Coronation Street fans were left stunned this week when a Bethany Platt twist was revealed. During Tuesday's (October 13) episode, it was revealed that Bethany, played by Lucy Fallon, was pregnant, just weeks after she had a one-night stand with DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). ITV soap viewers will know that Bethany and Kit are currently living together at her mum Sarah's (Tina O'Brien) flat, while she remains behind bars.
Blackmail and a secret revealed
While Sarah doesn't yet know that Bethany slept with her ex-boyfriend, it didn't take long for Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) to uncover the truth. Jodie then blackmailed Bethany into keeping quiet about her revenge plan at number eight.
As Bethany continues to keep her romp with Kit a secret, the detective has also been grappling with a recent breast cancer diagnosis. He notably attended his first chemotherapy treatment this week. As the drama continues for Bethany, here's everything you need to know about actress Lucy Fallon's life away from the famous cobbles, reports the Daily Star.
Life away from the cobbles
Lucy is currently engaged to professional footballer Ryan Ledson, who plays for League One side Huddersfield Town. The couple have two children together, three-year-old Sonny and 21-month-old Nancy.
Lucy has openly discussed her previous admission to The Priory, which specialises in mental health care. Appearing on Johnny Seifert's Secure the Insecure podcast, the actress revealed: "I was just at the absolute rock bottom that I've ever, ever felt. And I really, really, really struggled."
She continued: "I had a really bad batch of mental health towards the end of 2020 and I ended up being in The Priory for about five weeks because my mental health was so bad. I couldn't see a way out of feeling how I was feeling."
Reaction to the pregnancy twist
Following Bethany's baby revelation on the cobbles, Lucy confirmed that Kit was indeed the father. Reflecting on her reaction to discovering the plot twist, Lucy said: "When our producer Kate [Brooks] was telling me what was happening and then she said that she ends up being pregnant, my jaw was on the floor."
The star went on to address the possibility of a termination, explaining: "Morally she's not totally against it, that's not the person she is, but then it's a big decision to make and it's whether she feels like she would be able to go through with that. She's been through quite a lot of stuff herself, so whether she feels like she can go through with this I don't know."
Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
