Clarkson to build his own car in new farm special

Jeremy Clarkson will attempt to build his own car in a brand new Clarkson's Farm special. The former Top Gear host, 66, currently fronts Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video, with a sixth series of the hit show in production.

Jeremy will go back to his motoring roots in a one-off episode titled Jeremy Grows A Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special. He will try to recreate a Jaguar F-Type V6S, focusing on ensuring the design features three crucial elements: style, luxury and performance.

What the special involves

Prime Video said: "Frustrated by modern motoring’s endless beeps, bongs and nanny-state technology, Jeremy has decided that if he wants a “new” car, he won’t buy one – he’ll build one."

"The base for his grand plan is the Jaguar F-Type V6S, a car he believes represents the sweet spot between analogue driving thrill and modern practicality. But this is no ordinary restoration job."

"Alongside his very own Diddly leather interior and wool carpets, Jeremy will attempt to grow a crop of flax fibre and turn it into a revolutionary flax-composite – a sustainable alternative to carbon fibre already catching the attention of major car marques."

Designer and health update

Clarkson has also recruited car designer Ian Callum, founder of design and engineering firm CALLUM and the man who designed the original F-Type and the Aston Martin Vanquish.

He revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with "aggressive" prostate cancer, which had been discovered early, during an episode of Clarkson's Farm. He later said a PSA test in April showed no indication of cancer and he is in remission.

Release details

His current show, Clarkson's Farm, also on Prime Video, documents the goings on at the presenter's 1,000-acre farm in West Oxfordshire and picked up the reality docuseries prize at the National Television Awards in September.

The one-off special will be available to stream on Prime Video next year, with a date yet to be confirmed.
