Cadbury Heroes boxes get two major changes this year

Cadbury Heroes chocolate boxes have undergone two significant changes this year, sparking mixed reactions among fans. The 500g tubs are now made from cardboard instead of plastic, and the Cadbury Eclair has been replaced with a miniature Flake.

New Look and Contents

The updated boxes were spotted by content creator @UKnewestfoods on Instagram, who noted B&M selling them for £4.99. The post highlighted that the boxes are now cardboard, smaller, and more expensive than previous metal tins or plastic tubs.

According to the post, the change marks a shift from the traditional packaging, with the removal of Eclairs and the addition of Flakes. The multi-packs still include favourites like Dairy Milk, Twirl, and Fudge.

Fan Reactions

Fans have expressed mixed feelings online. Some lamented the loss of the nostalgic tin, while others welcomed the recyclable cardboard and the Flake swap. One fan commented, "This is so sad…. Bring back the nostalgic huge tin!!" while another said, "Finally! The Eclairs are gone!"

Others questioned whether regular tubs with Eclairs would still be available, and some suggested alternative replacements like Boost. The trial was first introduced last year in selected stores and is now a permanent decision.

Official Response

A Mondelez International spokesperson, on behalf of Cadbury, said: "We're always listening to our Cadbury fans to ensure we're continuously improving our range and reflecting changing consumer tastes. Following fan feedback, we introduced Cadbury Flake in place of Cadbury Eclairs as part of our Cadbury Heroes paper tub trial."

The spokesperson added that the trial supports efforts to reduce virgin plastic in packaging and gather feedback. Cadbury Eclairs continue to be included across the wider Cadbury Heroes range.
