Between the major reveals from Sony, Microsoft, and others, Summer Game Fest week showcased plenty of indie titles worth your attention. While God of War Laufey and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation dominated headlines, these smaller games deserve a spotlight. Here are 18 indie highlights you might have missed.
2 Fights In 2 Tight Spaces
The original Fights In Tight Spaces blended turn-based tactics with deckbuilding to emulate choreographed action scenes. Developer Ground Shatter returns with a sequel featuring a new card transformation system and online co-op. Available now in early access on Steam, with a full launch planned for 2027.
Among Us Story: On Guard
After Among Us exploded in popularity, developer Innersloth scrapped a sequel but announced this single-player story-driven mystery. Players uncover an imposter aboard a spaceship in a more traditional narrative experience. No release date yet, but it's expected on all platforms.
Bad Magpie
In this Xbox showcase standout, you control a one-winged magpie hopping through an open world, stealing shiny objects for a mysterious star. Promising slapstick comedy akin to Untitled Goose Game, with a plot-driven adventure launching next year on PC and Xbox.
Carcass Clad
From the creators of Mouthwashing, this co-op horror game with PS1-era graphics tasks three players with operating a tank in a war-torn city. Gruesome animal corpses litter the environment, but the threats remain unclear. PC-only, no release date.
Cassette Beasts 2002
A sequel to the acclaimed Pokémon-like Cassette Beasts, set in London with over 250 monsters and new fusions. Import your character from the first game. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC; release date TBA.
El Paso, Elsewhere 2
This Max Payne-inspired supernatural shooter returns with vampire powers like mid-air dives and blood feeding. Protagonist James Savage faces new horrors. Only announced for Xbox Series X/S and PC; no release date.
Hack '95
A nostalgic card-based hacking game set in the 90s, where you uncover a government conspiracy with a virtual pug. Developed by London-based Village Studio, it's PC-only with a free Steam demo available.
Into The Wind
Take over a delivery business from your missing uncle using a sentient, flying motorcycle. Physics-based gameplay considers cargo weight, terrain, and weather, plus sky pirate battles. Early access on PC, date TBA.
Ithaca
Control environmental lawyer Penelope on a road trip with a hostage in her trunk. This narrative-heavy RPG from The Pixel Hunt includes stat upgrades and skill checks. Kickstarter campaign planned; playtest sign-ups on Steam.
P.O.N.
A co-op horror game where you play as criminals avoiding a superhero monster. Described as a Batman horror game from the thugs' perspective, the hero appears far less merciful. PC 'coming soon,' likely by year's end.
Prove You're Human
From the developer of 1000xResist, this sci-fi horror game pits you against an uncanny AI, trying to prove it's not human. PC-only, no release date or other platforms confirmed.
Red Kiss
A vampire RPG set in Cold War Berlin, where you manage an organization using telepathic powers to dispatch agents. From Dutch studio Wisp Fire, it's PC-only with no release date.
Signet City
From the creator of Citizen Sleeper, this fungalpunk RPG has you control a fungal parasite taking over hosts in a city inspired by 1980s northern England. First-person with dice rolling, 'coming soon' on PC.
Slap Out Of It!
A comedy sandbox where you slap everything to solve puzzles. From VR developer Turbo Button, it launches in 2027 on PC and unspecified consoles.
Tenebris Somnia
A retro pixel-art horror game with live-action cutscenes from an award-winning Argentinian film crew. Releases October 16 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Eternal Whispers
Closer to tabletop roots, this Disco Elysium-inspired RPG uses dice rolls for actions, with failure influencing story flow. From board game developer Flyos, PC-only, no release date.
Virtue And A Sledgehammer
Destroy a town of robot ghosts with a sledgehammer, uncovering traumatic memories. A free Steam demo covers the first 30 minutes; full release on PC before year's end.
Vivarium
An 80s anime-inspired life sim set in a vivarium, where you garden, cook, and socialize. Xbox console exclusive launching next year.
