An update has now emerged, revealing that the couple are involved in a local planning dispute over a proposed donkey sanctuary at their £1,700,000 home in a quiet West Sussex village. According to a post on the local parish council website in Brighton, Alfie has submitted a planning application for a donkey farm on a five-acre plot of land just north of their home. The plans include a tractor parking area, a donkey enclosure and stable, a wildlife pond, and three shepherd huts.

The application has angered some residents, who argue that the 2.1-metre-high boundary fencing and new access gates will create safety hazards on the private lane. They also claim that heavy vehicles needed for donkey care will cause disruption and damage the root systems of mature trees. However, Alfie's planning agent has stated that the shepherd huts are not for residential or Airbnb use; instead, they will store beekeeping equipment, land maintenance tools, donkey feed, and serve as a daytime rest room by the wildlife pond.
