The Traitors Live Experience is now open in London, and our reporter Dianne Bourne headed to Covent Garden to play the hit TV detective game in real life. She was voted out in the second round after making classic mistakes – including wearing a leopard print dress and being too vocal with her suspicions.
How the experience works
The Traitors Live is a multi-level building in London's Covent Garden, where you book a timeslot to play. You can choose family sessions (minimum age 12) or 18+ sessions, and book as a single player or in groups. Each round table seats up to 14 players, so if you aren't in a group of 14, you'll be paired with strangers.
Doors open 45 minutes before your session, and the reporter's first mistake was arriving only 15 minutes early. She recommends getting in earlier to explore, order a drink, and familiarise yourself with the setup.
Meeting the group and choosing Traitors
After check-in, you can state whether you'd be happy to be a Traitor. The group meets in the venue's bar, The Cloak & Dagger, with photo opportunities and spooky cloaked Traitors figures. The reporter's second mistake was wearing a leopard print flouncy dress, when the FAQs encourage guests to avoid anything 'loud or busy' as it singles you out.
In the Round Table room, a host in character as a Claudia-like keeper of the castle greets you, and Claudia Winkleman makes a brief video appearance. Players don eye masks while the host selects Traitors. The reporter was relieved to be a Faithful, but soon found herself under suspicion – her name came up in joint third in an early anonymous vote.
The game and the mistakes
In the first full Round Table, the group voted out a man named John, who revealed he was a Faithful – a classic herd mentality mistake seen on the TV show. By round two, the reporter was voted out despite protestations, after making her own suspicions too vocal. She was correct about one Traitor – a young woman who flew under the radar and won the whole game, even hoodwinking her own sister.
Between votes, there are fast-paced challenges, and Traitors get to 'murder' players. Once banished or murdered, you watch the rest of the game on TV screens in a private room. The game takes two hours inside the room, with time afterwards in The Cloak & Dagger bar to debrief – so allow three hours in total.
