Russell Crowe shows off ripped physique at 62 after losing weight gained for role

Russell Crowe has showcased his dramatic physical transformation after shedding the 57 pounds he gained for a recent acting role. The 62-year-old actor, who intentionally bulked up to 278 pounds for his portrayal of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes in the 2019 miniseries The Loudest Voice and later Nazi leader Hermann Göring in the 2025 historical drama Nuremberg, has returned to a leaner frame.

Crowe debuted his slimmed-down figure last year at the Zurich Film Festival, where he received the Golden Eye Award for Lifetime Achievement. On Monday, he shared another glimpse of his ripped physique on X, posting photos to celebrate his youngest son Tennyson's 20th birthday. The images included one of the father and son flexing their arms.

The Oscar-winning Gladiator star previously revealed that the extra weight took a major toll on his body. Speaking on the Fitzy, Wippa & Kate radio show in November 2025, he said he began receiving stem cell injections to treat injuries, which made his workouts more effective. He credited wellness program Ways2Well for helping him drop from about 278 pounds to around 222 pounds.

On The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Crowe explained that the injections and IVs calmed his body's inflammation, reducing pain and allowing him to exercise without suffering for hours afterwards. He also cut back on alcohol, saying he now only drinks occasionally and chooses high-quality wine for special occasions.
