Piano mysteriously appears on Welsh beach

A piano mysteriously turned up on a Carmarthenshire beach this week, surprising onlookers who spotted the large object partially submerged in the sand.

The instrument was found on Cefn Sidan Beach in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, earlier this week. One man walking his dog on the sand on Monday morning said he spotted a large object from a distance and moved closer to see what it was. He said he "couldn't believe his eyes" when he realised it was a piano.

Others were standing around the instrument taking pictures, but nobody seemed to know where it had come from, according to the man.

Council Unaware of Filming

The issue was reported to Carmarthenshire Council, and it appears that the piano was on the beach for filming purposes – albeit the council were not aware of it. The piano has since been removed from the sand.

Carmarthenshire Council’s deputy leader, councillor Hazel Evans, said: "Carmarthenshire Council was not notified in advance of filming involving a piano at Cefn Sidan beach."

"Following inquiries a member of the team attended the site and advised those involved of the permissions and approvals required for organised activities of this nature. The piano has since been removed from the beach."

Reminder for Organised Activities

Evans added: "We would remind anyone planning organised activities or filming on council-managed land to contact the council in advance to ensure the appropriate permissions are in place."
