Oktoberfest Newcastle Final Day Goes Ahead Despite Storm Boelo
Oktoberfest Newcastle Final Day Despite Storm Boelo

Newcastle's Oktoberfest 2026 concluded on Saturday with revellers packing the Times Square marquee despite Storm Boelo bringing rain and winds of up to 60mph to the region.

The final day of the annual event saw crowds undeterred by the miserable conditions, with the marquee filling quickly after it was taken over by Ruby Rae's XL country music festival on Friday night.

Partygoers Brave the Weather

The daytime session began at lunchtime, and by around 2.30pm the afternoon was in full swing, with singing audible from a distance. People danced on benches, raised steins of beer and cocktails, and created a lively atmosphere as the storm raged outside.

While the North East was not forecast to be hit as hard as other parts of the UK by the second storm in a few days, following Austen earlier in the week, Boelo made for a miserable Saturday in the Toon, with temperatures dropping as winds picked up and rain fell.

Strong Stuff in the Toon

The event, which had drawn crowds on the previous two Saturdays, saw no slowdown on its final day, with the marquee packed to capacity. The Oktoberfest fun for 2026 was set to end with the second session on Saturday night.

A gallery of 26 pictures captured the afternoon's festivities, showing revellers in lederhosen, hen parties, and groups making a real effort with their outfits, all determined to enjoy the closing day of the event.
