Manchester's shopping district was filled with colour and music on October 24 as the Halloween in the City displays returned to the city centre for the tenth consecutive year.
A parade of colourful spooky sea creatures, complete with extra eyes and fearsome fangs, made their way up Market Street and around the Arndale Centre, undaunted by the dismal weather. Trees along the route were decorated with Halloween lanterns.
Marching band and costumes
The performers were accompanied by a marching band playing Halloween hits including the Specials' Ghost Town and Monster Mash, delighting crowds of shoppers watching on.
Families and children dressed as skeletons and bumble bees, along with one sausage dog in a spider costume, enjoyed the festivities despite the conditions.
Reduced programme due to weather
The parade was a reduced offering compared to the normal programme of events scheduled for October half term. Wet and windy weather forced organisers to scale back events, with many of the inflatable monsters installed around the city centre taken down.
Despite this, the event drew large crowds, with puppets and inflatable monsters still visible on Market Street as part of the trail.
