Boston locals have declared that Scotland's Tartan Army creates a better atmosphere than England's travelling support during the World Cup group stage. In a viral TikTok video, two Boston women compared the two fan bases outside a busy bar, ultimately favouring the Scots.
Local Reaction to England Fans
England supporters arrived in Boston ahead of their group-stage match against Ghana on June 23, which ended in a draw. However, many Bostonians were more interested in comparing the travelling support than the game itself. Scotland's fans had already made a strong impression during matches against Haiti and Morocco, becoming a hit with locals.
One woman in the video said: 'Everyone in Boston has been wondering, is England gonna show up to Scotland's level? We're at the Dubliner right now. I feel like it is the first night that all of the England fans are truly here as they play tomorrow and they are pretty rowdy. They keep doing all these chants.'
Why Scotland Fans Stand Out
When asked if England fans matched Scotland's level, her friend replied: 'I don't think so. I think when they say "No Scotland, No Party," it's very evident, it's very true.' The pair explained that Scotland's supporters have a 'special spark,' possibly because they hadn't been to a World Cup in 28 years. 'This is probably more normal for England,' they added.
They concluded: 'The English are still a good time, but nothing quite hits like the Scottish. I don't think anything ever will.'
England Fans Respond
The women approached a group of England fans, who responded with chants of 'Scotland get battered, everywhere they go.' Unfazed, the pair fired back with 'No Scotland, No Party' in their thick American accents.
The video attracted attention from Scotland fans, who praised the women. One user wrote: 'Love the commitment and loyalty ladies,' while another said: 'Yas!! Get them telt my Bonnie lass!! No Scotland, No Party.' A third commented: 'Love the way our Bostonian cousins are representing for Scotland.'
Some Scots noted that the Tartan Army's party spirit isn't just due to the World Cup drought. One user stated: 'I run a bar in Scotland and can confirm we party like that World Cup or not. Karaoke with the Scottish is top tier vibes.'
