From Champions League football to a £4 gig by Cabaret Voltaire, the Daily Star has rounded up some of the best shows, gigs, and sporting events available for under £100 this week.
While ticket prices have soared in recent years, there are still some surprisingly good bargains to be found if you know where to look. With everything from Premier League giants and American football to hit musicals and comedy superstars on offer, there's plenty to keep Brits entertained.
Curtain Raisers
There's something for just about everyone on Britain's stages this week, from iconic musicals to traditional Shakespearean comedy. With Halloween fast approaching, Beetlejuice The Musical feels like an especially fitting choice. Based on Tim Burton's cult 1988 film, it's a production that's creepy and funny in equal measure, and features some real ear-worms on its soundtrack too. Tickets for the production at London's Prince Edward Theatre are available for under £50 on Thursday, October 15.
For something a little more traditional, Shakespeare's Globe in London is putting on a new adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, with tickets going for under £30 on Thursday. Meanwhile, Queen fans in the North East can enjoy We Will Rock You at Newcastle's O2 City Hall on Monday, October 19.
For any families looking for something a little different, the acclaimed My Neighbour Totoro brings Studio Ghibli's beloved animated film to life at London's Gillian Lynne Theatre. The stunning production, which features spectacularly ingenious puppetry, can be seen for under £50 on Tuesday, October 20.
Gig Economy
Some of the biggest names in music are heading to Britain this week, and even on a budget there's some cracking artists available to enjoy. Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams, whose hits include Summer of '69, Heaven and (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, is appearing at CIRCUIT in Kingston upon Thames on Sunday, October 18. Tickets to see the Summer of '69 man are going for just over £40, making it one of the week's most eye-catching deals.
South African pop sensation Tyla, who shot to international fame with her smash dance hit Water, is playing London's O2 Academy Brixton on Thursday, October 15. Tickets to see the Grammy-winning singer are currently going for under £40. Meanwhile, Mercury Prize-winning singer-songwriter Arlo Parks is performing at Brixton Academy on Tuesday, October 20, with tickets starting at around £35.
But the cheapest tickets of the lot belong to the experimental electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire, whose Glasgow show at the Barrowland Ballroom on Sunday, October 18, has tickets listed for an almost unbelievable £4.
Sports for Cheap
Whether you're a die-hard football supporter or fancy experiencing something completely different, there are some huge sporting occasions taking place over the next few days. American football fans can get a taste of the NFL without having to fork out for flights across the Atlantic, with the Jacksonville Jaguars taking on the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, October 18. Tickets to the London clash are available for under £90, offering fans a chance to experience the razzmatazz of America's biggest sporting league for less than £100.
And football fans can even enjoy a night of Champions League action without paying a fortune, with the controversial Man City so far unable to sell out their game against Greek side AEK Athens at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, October 20, with tickets still available for under £50. It's a chance to watch some of Europe's biggest footballing stars in action for a fraction of what you might expect to pay.
Having a Laugh
Britain's comedy scene is also serving up some excellent deals this week, with several household names available for considerably less than you might expect. Scottish funnyman Kevin Bridges, one of Britain's most popular stand-up comedians, is performing at Cardiff's Utilita Arena on Sunday, October 18. The Glaswegian comic, known for his hilarious observations about everyday life, can be seen for around £40.
But perhaps the best bargain is Taskmaster contestant and master of deadpan delivery Phil Wang, whose show at Manchester's Opera House on the same evening has tickets going for just over £20. All prices are based on Viagogo listings and are subject to availability, booking fees and change.
