Alnwick Halloween House opens after Storm Boelo delay

Crowds gathered on Wednesday night for the return of the Alnwick Halloween House display, which had been postponed due to Storm Boelo. The display, featuring eight-foot spiders and 12-foot skeletons, is a popular event in the town's calendar, with people visiting year after year to see the spooky spectacular.

Postponed Opening Due to Storm Boelo

The display was due to open last Saturday but was postponed after Storm Boelo brought an amber weather warning across much of Northumberland. Organisers were determined to ensure operations could still go ahead, with donations to the free event spread this year between four local charities.

Organiser Charlotte Watson told ChronicleLive that the display, placed outside her house, brings "so much happiness to locals," adding: "It's a massive community thing and raises vital funds for charities here in Alnwick."

Charities Supported This Year

This year, donations will be given to Boost, Community@NE66, Alnwick District Foodbank, and the main recipient, Chameleon Buddies, of which Charlotte is a Trustee. Alnwick Mayor and trustees from the charities joined the Watson family in officially opening the display.

On the scale of the display, Charlotte, who says she loves all things Halloween, joked: "We've got too many light bulbs to count and too many light bulbs to change!"

Opening Times and Location

The display at NE66 2NJ will be open each evening from 6-8pm until October 31.
