Stacey Solomon is bringing her love of crafting to BBC One this December with a new show, Stacey Solomon’s Crafty Christmas, airing on Thursday 15 December at 8pm. The TV star, known for her social media craft tutorials, will demonstrate how to make homemade Christmas crackers, personalised decorations, and more, all while cutting costs and upcycling.
In a step-by-step guide released by the BBC, Solomon explains how to make crackers using recyclable paper and ribbon, calling them “a more environmentally friendly option” compared to shop-bought versions. Her son Leighton, who helped create the crackers, said: “It feels like you’ve actually worked hard on it, not just going out to the shop… it’s better handmade.”
Other crafts featured include marbleised baubles made by three-year-old Rex, a “crazy bauble wreath” using old decorations, and homemade wrapping paper that even the family dog Dilly can help with. Solomon also suggests using an etching pen (£17.99) to personalise items like chopping boards and keyrings, and making soy wax candles for longer-lasting, cleaner burning.
For those with more time, a pompom hat garland is recommended for evenings spent watching Christmas movies. Charity shop finds also get a makeover, with curtain rings repurposed as picture frames. The show aims to spread “homemade cheer” and provide budget-friendly ideas for families.
