Rugby star's eyebrow lamination horror: 'I was scared to leave house'
Rugby player's eyebrow lamination disaster goes viral

A professional rugby player from St Helens has revealed her beauty treatment nightmare after trying eyebrow lamination for the first time with shocking results.

Beauty treatment goes badly wrong

Emily Rudge, who plays for both St Helens Women and the England National Women's rugby team, decided to treat herself to the popular brow treatment ahead of Christmas. The semi-permanent procedure is designed to restructure eyebrow hairs for a fuller, smoother appearance, often eliminating the need for daily makeup filling.

However, the outcome was far from the enhanced natural look she had anticipated. Instead, Emily was confronted with dramatically dark, exaggerated brows that had been brushed upwards, creating an unexpectedly bold and bushy effect.

'I thought they looked ridiculous'

Speaking about the experience, Emily explained she had been inspired by pictures of others who had undergone the treatment. "I've seen pictures and thought it would be nice to get them done for Christmas," she told Newsweek.

The reality proved startling. "I only saw them properly when I got home and I was so shocked," she admitted. "I thought they looked ridiculous, and I was scared to leave the house."

Fortunately, the timing provided a convenient disguise. She managed to conceal the dramatic brows beneath a festive Santa hat during Christmas celebrations, later joking on TikTok that "The Santa hat legit saved my life."

Public reaction and fading hope

Emily shared her experience on TikTok, posting a video where she first covered her brows before revealing the laminated results to her followers. In a follow-up clip, she demonstrated that simply brushing the hairs did little to tame their striking appearance, suggesting residual dye on her skin may have contributed to the bushy look.

The video attracted numerous comments from equally bewildered viewers. One person questioned the technician's judgment, asking "How could she let you leave like that?" while another commented, "I too was a victim of brow lamination." A third viewer remarked, "Why did I never see laminated brows that'd look good?"

The silver lining for Emily is that eyebrow lamination is a semi-permanent treatment. Her brows have since begun fading back towards their natural state, bringing the unfortunate beauty experiment to a gradual close.
