Princess Kate's favourite Aspinal Mayfair bag gets new autumn colour

Aspinal of London has unveiled its iconic Midi Mayfair handbag in a new 'Deep Shine Dark Brown Croc' finish, a shade that aligns with the autumn trend for chocolate brown. Princess Catherine, 44, has carried the black version of the Mayfair for years, including in 2021 when she paired it with a red Zara blazer and black trousers, demonstrating the bag's lasting appeal.

A Royal Connection to the Mayfair

The princess recently wore a chocolate Burberry trench on the Isle of Bute, signalling her embrace of the brown palette. The new glossy chocolate version of the Mayfair, which is handcrafted from full-grain Italian leather with a hand-painted croc-effect finish, features Aspinal's signature gold shield lock. Inside, it offers two compartments, a zipped section, and a slip pocket.

At eight inches wide, the bag balances compactness with practicality, and a detachable leather strap allows it to be carried by the top handle or worn crossbody. The colour is versatile, pairing well with cream, camel, burgundy, denim, grey, or navy.

Other Royal-Inspired Bags

Other bags inspired by the Princess are also available. The Mosaic bag from Strathberry, priced at £425, has been worn by Catherine in cream and comes with a top handle and detachable strap. The Connie handbag from Fairfax & Favor, priced at £295, was carried by Zara Tindall, a brand ambassador, in a rich mahogany colourway earlier this month; it features a structured saddle-style design with a curved front flap and gold-toned equestrian hardware.
