Jo Frost, the 55-year-old television personality known as Supernanny, has debuted a dramatic hair transformation, swapping her signature dark brunette for a full head of silver-grey. The change, shared on social media, aims to show that embracing grey can be stylish rather than a compromise.
The technique used is known as ‘griege’ blending, which combines grey, beige and silver tones. Siobhan Haug, co-owner at Haug London Haus, explains that it softens the contrast between natural grey and previously coloured hair, allowing for a more seamless transition without the harsh regrowth line.
Grey hair often requires a different care routine, as it tends to be coarser and drier. Hair expert Nicole Petty from Milk + Blush recommends focusing on moisture-rich products, such as masks and oils, and using a glossing treatment to restore shine. Purple shampoo can help neutralise yellow tones, but should be used sparingly to avoid dryness.
The cut is also important; modern, soft layers and face-framing can make grey hair look current. With the right approach, grey can be as glossy and flattering as any other colour.
