In a recent interview with Vogue Italia, she revealed the personal toll, stating she was forced to turn down "every job for almost a year" due to her health struggles.
The model reflected on her past work habits, noting, "The way that I worked for many years was not sustainable. I think that, you know, even during COVID I continued to work." She emphasized the importance of balance, saying, "Being able to be in Texas with my horses and my dog, having a real life, and then going back to work makes it more fulfilling." Bella has learned to prioritize her well-being, now feeling empowered to say "no" to jobs that do not align with her values or involve people she loves, trusts, supports, and respects.
Recalling the emotional impact of her hiatus, Bella shared, "Now I know that if I’m able to say 'No,' even going through my [Lyme disease] treatment last year and having to say no to every job for almost a year, which I cried about. I was emotional because you feel disposable."

Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, a former star of The Real Housewives, has been a vocal supporter. On September 18, she posted an Instagram tribute to her "bada** warrior" daughter, praising Bella's bravery and resilience. Yolanda wrote, "I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite the falling protocols and countless setbacks you have faced." She added, "There simply aren't words big enough for the darkness, the pain, and the unknown hell you've lived through since your diagnosis. In her book Believe Me, she detailed seeing 106 doctors and undergoing various therapies, including Stem Cell transplants and Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Back in 2023, she declared herself "finally healthy" and expressed pride in not giving up.
