Peter Kay's BBC 'Enough' Demand & New Tour Dates for Cancer Charities
Peter Kay's BBC Demand & New Tour for Cancer Charities

Comedian Peter Kay has issued a firm request to BBC bosses, telling them 'that's enough now' regarding their repeated asks to post clips of his appearances on social media. The demand came as the Bolton-born funnyman announced a significant extension to his record-breaking stand-up tour.

New Tour Dates and Charitable Mission

The 52-year-old has added nine new dates to his 'Better Late Than Never' tour, which will now run until 8th August 2026. The final show is scheduled for Manchester's AO Arena. In a heartfelt move, Kay confirmed that all proceeds from the entire tour will be donated to a dozen different cancer charities.

"You don't even have to like me to come, it goes beyond that, this is about supporting these charities," Kay stated during an appearance on BBC's The One Show. He acknowledged the widespread impact of the disease, noting that "everybody knows someone who's been affected".

'That's Enough Now': Kay's BBC Standoff

The comedian's blunt message to the BBC emerged during a conversation on BBC Radio 2 with host Scott Mills and fellow comic Paddy McGuinness. Kay revealed that after a previous appearance, producers persistently contacted him asking, 'Can we put this bit on social media? Can we put that bit on social media?'

His response was unequivocal: "No, that's enough now thanks, leave it." Kay expressed his frustration, adding, "Everything is...I can't even say the word." McGuinness, who hosts his own show on the station, described the sometimes rudimentary filming setup for social media content, quipping that for Kay's high-profile visit, "they've actually brought up a camera phone."

Phoenix Nights: No to Netflix, Yes to a Film?

In other news, Kay has confirmed that his beloved sitcom Phoenix Nights will not be coming to Netflix. He revealed the streaming giant approached him last year about licensing the show but wanted to add a trigger warning due to its content being "not very politically correct now".

"I just said, 'I'm not keen on that, I don't really want a warning before it.' So, I just said, 'No, I'll leave it'," Kay explained. He joked that Netflix tried to sweeten the deal by sending him an air fryer.

However, fans may have a big-screen adaptation to look forward to. Kay disclosed he has written a script for a Phoenix Nights film and is waiting for de-aging technology to improve to handle flashback sequences, rather than relying on "really bad makeup".

The extended 'Better Late Than Never' tour will visit major arenas across the UK and Ireland, including Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham, Belfast, Sheffield, Leeds, and London. The charities set to benefit from the tour's proceeds are:
