Fans of sharp satire and political humour can finally mark their calendars, as the long-awaited return of Mock The Week has been officially confirmed. The iconic comedy panel show, absent from screens for four years, will make its comeback on Sunday, 1 February 2026, but with a significant twist: it will now air on the rival channel TLC.
A Triumphant Return with a New Broadcast Home
After its final BBC broadcast in 2022, following a celebrated 17-year run, the show is being revived by its original host, Dara Ó Briain. The new series will feature extended, hour-long episodes, a first for the programme, and will be broadcast on the Discovery-owned network TLC. The move was first hinted at in October 2025 and now the full details have been unveiled.
The revival promises to blend the familiar with the fresh. Core segments that became fan favourites, such as 'If this is the answer, what is the question?', 'Wheel of News', 'Picture of the Week', and 'Scenes We'd Like to See', will all be retained. However, producers have also confirmed that new segments will be introduced for the audience to discover.
Stellar Line-Up of Comedic Talent Confirmed
Joining Dara Ó Briain for the nine-episode run will be a host of the UK's best-loved comedians. The confirmed lineup includes long-time panellist Hugh Dennis, who appeared in every episode of the original series, alongside other familiar faces like Rhys James, Sara Pascoe, Ed Byrne, Katherine Ryan, and Russell Howard.
Additional comedians set to feature are Angela Barnes, Milton Jones, Lou Sanders, Ellie Taylor, Ahir Shah, and Glenn Moore, with more names still to be announced. This ensemble ensures the show's trademark rapid-fire wit and topical commentary will be in safe hands.
Executive Excitement and a Look Back
Graham Lafferty, SVP Content Strategy and Networks for WBD UK and Ireland, expressed his enthusiasm for the show's new chapter. "The return of Mock the Week is something we are hugely excited by," he said. "We hope fans of the show will enjoy more of what they loved with a new one." He added that the move aligns with TLC's strategy to broaden into entertainment programming.
The show's conclusion on the BBC in August 2022 was met with disappointment from both the production company, Angst Productions, and its loyal viewers. At the time, Dara Ó Briain joked about the difficulty of satirising increasingly surreal news events, stating, "The storylines were getting crazier and crazier... It couldn't go on." The BBC cited a need to create room for new shows after 21 series.
Now, with its relocation to TLC, Mock The Week is poised to once again hold a mirror up to the week's events, proving that the demand for intelligent, laugh-out-loud satire is as strong as ever. The wait for its return is nearly over.
