Delta Goodrem gives rib injury update as she joins The Voice

Delta Goodrem will not take to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor this weekend after hurting her rib, but the Australian singer will still appear on another popular TV show. The 41-year-old, currently paired with Kai Widdrington, has had to withdraw from Icons Week on the BBC programme.

In a statement, she said she was 'absolutely gutted' at having to miss the show and told fans she'd be 'cheering everyone on from the sidelines'. However, she is set to appear on ITV's The Voice, where she will assist coach Kelly Rowland during the pre-recorded battle rounds as the American singer reduces her team, taking just three contestants through to the next stage.

Reunion on The Voice

This is not the first time the duo have appeared together, as both Delta and Kelly served as judges on the Australian edition of The Voice for four seasons. In a post on the show's official Instagram, the two women were seen tucking a strand of hair behind their ears while gazing into the camera before turning towards each other and looking back at the lens once more.

Viewers responded quickly, with many delighted that Delta would still be on their screens this weekend. One viewer said: "Yay! Still get to watch you Saturday night then." Another wrote: "Yes, delta!" while a third commented: "Yaaaas, so excited for this."

Recovery and Future on Strictly

While Delta may appear on The Voice this Saturday, it remains unclear whether she'll continue on the BBC programme following her injury. Competition rules permit celebrities a week's grace period if they sustain an injury, though if additional recovery time is needed, they must withdraw from the show.

Delta took to Instagram this week to update her followers, posting a photograph of herself recuperating on a sofa. She wrote: "Just wanted to come on here and say a big thank you to everyone who has sent messages and wrote lovely comments the last couple of days, I see them all. Not the start to the week I'd hoped for, but your support has meant the world."

She added: "Also, a special big thank you to my amazing dance partner @kaiwidd who I will miss dancing with this weekend, but I am so beyond grateful for his guidance and friendship through it all, as well as the wonderful Strictly team! Resting and recovering at home, and will be cheering everyone on from my couch on Saturday night xx".

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One at 6:15pm. The Voice airs Saturday on ITV1 at 8:35pm.
