A British comedian has finally spoken out about his terrifying ordeal after being arrested and detained in Turkey, admitting he feared he might never see home again.
The comic, whose identity has been withheld for legal reasons, described his experience as "every traveller's worst nightmare" after being taken into custody during what was supposed to be a routine holiday.
'They Treated Me Like a Criminal'
"I was treated like a serious criminal from the moment they took me in," the shaken performer revealed. "The conditions were appalling, and I genuinely believed I might be stuck there for years."
According to the comedian, the nightmare began when Turkish authorities allegedly found "suspicious material" on his electronic devices during a random security check.
Diplomatic Nightmare
The UK Foreign Office confirmed they provided consular assistance but declined to comment further, citing privacy concerns. Sources suggest the case involved a "cultural misunderstanding" rather than any criminal intent.
Travel experts are now warning British tourists to be extra cautious when visiting Turkey, particularly regarding electronic devices and social media content.
Psychological Scars Remain
Though now safely back in the UK, the comedian admits the experience has left lasting trauma. "I can't even look at my passport without feeling sick," he confessed. "It's changed how I view travel completely."
The incident highlights growing concerns about foreign nationals' rights in Turkey, with several similar cases reported in recent months.
