A Daily Star reader has written to agony aunt Jane O'Gorman, describing how her new boyfriend refuses to have sex with her because he is wracked with guilt over his ongoing divorce. The woman, who says she is 'climbing the walls with sexual frustration', detailed a recent attempt to seduce him that ended with him asking her to move out of the way so he could watch TV.
Guilt over marriage vows
The reader explains that her boyfriend split from his wife last May and their divorce is going through, with the ex-wife already seeing someone new. Despite this, he worries that getting naked would break his marriage vows. She pushed her bare breasts into his face and invited him to have his wicked way, but he did nothing more than ask her to get out of the way because he was watching television.
The woman feels like a fool, especially as his ex-wife posts loved-up images on social media. Her sister thinks he is using her place as a crash pad, but she believes he wants to do things in the right way and in the right order, waiting until the divorce is finalised.
Advice to end the arrangement
In her response, Jane O'Gorman suggests the man may be keener on the comfortable sofa and large telly than on making her scream. She advises the reader to stop worrying what other people think and to chuck him out, stating she doesn't need a flat mate but craves a proper partner.
'Level with the man; explain this arrangement isn't working and give him a moving out date,' Jane says. She warns that allowing him to overstay his welcome could crush her confidence and make her feel irrelevant.
Jane concludes by advising the reader to do her homework in advance and not leap feet first into future relationships unless she knows exactly what she's letting herself in for.
