BBC presenter giggles after X-rated joke about colleague

BBC Look North presenter Peter Levy struggled to pull himself together after cracking a risque joke about a colleague during a live broadcast. The 71-year-old, known for peppering shows with occasional adult humour, left viewers chuckling with his latest quip.

Wordplay on car names

Viewers had enjoyed a newscast by Look North presenter Phillip Norton, with the last shot showing a close-up of a Dacia Sandero, prompting Levy to make a wordplay on the name. Back in the studio, Levy wrapped up the newscast and said: 'I love the car names. Phillip Norton, who is always looking for an escort.'

Visibly entertained by the innuendo, which could have also referred to the iconic Ford Escort, Levy burst into a beaming smile and giggled as he tried to continue. He chuckled through the final seconds of the broadcast before being joined by BBC weather presenter Paul Hudson.

Previous colourful remarks

It is not the first time Levy has entertained viewers with his colourful remarks. When discussing potholes, Levy asked viewers to get in touch about the scale of the problem where they lived. 'How big is your hole?' he asked before realising what he said. He continued: 'If you can send a picture, Norton's always in a hole.'

In another newscast, Levy introduced a road with an unfortunate name, Glory Hole Walkway, which had been closed for over a year, prompting a laugh from the long-standing presenter.
