This domestic success was just the beginning. The film's worldwide appeal propelled its total global earnings to a monumental $556 million since its midweek debut, setting a new benchmark for an animated opening.
China Leads the Charge
A significant driver of this historic opening was the film's phenomenal reception in China. Zootopia 2 captivated Chinese audiences, taking a colossal $272 million in the market. This figure marks the biggest opening weekend ever for an American animated film in the country, underscoring the franchise's immense international popularity.

Adding to the positive momentum for Hollywood as the year concludes was another major sequel. Universal Pictures' Wicked: For Good continued to perform strongly in its second weekend.
