Ted Lasso star joins Ruth Jones and James Corden's new TV show

Ruth Jones and James Corden are reuniting for The Choir, a new eight-episode Apple TV series in which they play siblings Ben and Lisa. The show, now in production, is set to premiere globally on Apple TV in 2027.

The pair, who created and starred in Gavin & Stacey, are also executive producers on the project. It marks their first collaboration since the record-breaking Gavin & Stacey: The Finale in 2024.

Plot and synopsis

The series is said to be about family, friendship, love and music. According to the official synopsis: "Brother and sister, Ben (Corden) and Lisa (Jones), haven’t seen each other for several years. Ben has been living abroad, while Lisa has carried on in their small English town where nothing ever happens."

"But when events take a sorry turn, Ben is forced to return to a life he never wanted, a town he never liked and a family from which he’s estranged. Can the unlikely healing of a rift with his big sister come in the form of a struggling local choir, and the ensemble who sing their hearts out each week?"

The cast joining the pair includes guest stars Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent. The main cast is rounded out by a who's who of UK TV comedy and drama.
