Strictly Star Addresses Delta Goodrem's Show Future After Injury
Strictly Star on Delta Goodrem's Future After Injury

Strictly Come Dancing professional Jowita has said she believes Delta Goodrem will be “fine next week” after the Australian pop star was forced to pull out of this weekend's show with a rib injury.

Delta was rushed to A&E last weekend after suffering the painful injury, and announced on Monday night's (October 12) It Takes Two that she needed time off on doctors' orders to allow it to heal. The BBC confirmed she would miss Icons Week and receive a “bye” to next week.

BBC Statement on Delta's Absence

In a statement, the BBC said: “Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing.” The statement added that it was “hoped” she and partner Kai Widdrington would return to dance again.

On Wednesday (October 15), Delta's co-stars Lawrence Robb and Jowita addressed her future on the show. Asked if he had spoken to her, Lawrence said: “I don't know what she's done. They've not really told us. I've sent her a well-wishes text, and I hope you get better and I hope to see her next week.”

Lawrence added: “Yeah, because she's so good. I mean, we had Dani back this year, and of course, last year she got an injury.” Ben Shephard replied: “It's not without its tribulations, this show, is it?”

Jowita said: “Yeah, I mean, it always takes just a second because, you know, they work so hard. We rehearse eight hours a day, nonstop. So, the body is tired, the mind is tired, and sometimes it's just one silly thing, and it can lead to some major issue.”

Delta's Strictly Record

Speaking about Delta, she added: “But I do believe that she will be fine next week. She is a fighter, and we will really miss her on that floor, because I think everyone would like to do the icons, because that's iconic. But I think she'll be back stronger than ever.”

Delta and partner Kai Widdrington had topped the leaderboard for the past two weeks, scoring 30 points for their American Smooth in week two, which was Movie Week. In the series opener, they scored 29 points for their samba, finishing second to John and Katya. Strictly Come Dancing airs every weekend on BBC One and iPlayer.
