The search for the next James Bond will reportedly enter its final phase this weekend, with screen tests for the role scheduled to take place in London.
According to Deadline, Callum Turner, known for One Night Only, Jack Lowden from Slow Horses, and The Crown's Josh O'Connor are among those in contention for the screen tests, which could begin as early as Friday.
The Hollywood Reporter has indicated that, contrary to earlier speculation, Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi and Sinners star Jack O'Connell are not participating in the tryouts.
Screen Test Components
The screen tests are expected to consist of three elements: stunts, camera presence and dialogue.
The selected actor will take over from Daniel Craig, who first assumed the role of Bond in Casino Royale (2006) and concluded his tenure after his fifth film, No Time To Die (2021).
Producer's Comments on Casting
Amy Pascal, who will produce the next Bond film, told Deadline earlier this year that an announcement by the end of the year is a realistic possibility. She emphasised the methodical approach being taken, noting that Daniel Craig is a difficult act to follow and that the new portrayal must be distinct, stirring and exciting.
The upcoming Bond film, which remains untitled, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve of Dune fame, with Harry Potter producer David Heyman joining Pascal on the project.
Representatives for Turner, Lowden, O'Connor and Amazon Studios have been contacted for comment.
