Netflix's new German-language psychological thriller The Trap has soared into the streaming service's top 10, offering a gripping binge-watch for Harlan Coben fans awaiting the author's next two releases in 2027.
Released this week, the six-part series follows successful author Lisa Konrad, who is haunted by witnessing her sister's murder. Because of this tragic incident, Lisa hasn't left her house in more than 10 years.
A Bestseller Brought to Life
The Trap is based on author Melanie Raabe's best-selling German novel of the same name, brought to life for Netflix by the Emmy Award-winning team behind the German crime drama Dear Child.
The official synopsis continues: "But when she believes she recognises the killer on television, she sets out to trap him, using herself as bait."
German actress Friederike Becht stars as Lisa, joined by Matthias Brandt as publisher Norbert Rudow, Hans Low as journalist Robert Lenzen, and Malaya Stern Takeda as Lisa's assistant Yuma.
What's Next from Harlan Coben
Harlan Coben fans have plenty to look forward to, with not one but two series arriving next year. Netflix will adapt his novel The Woods for a second time, following the 2020 Polish adaptation, this time setting it in the UK.
The upcoming series will follow barrister Paul "Cope" Copeland (Tom Bateman), whose life was torn apart when his sister vanished 20 years ago. When a body shows up seemingly connected to her disappearance, Cope believes his sister may still be alive.
The Woods will star Tom Bateman alongside Michelle Keegan, known for Fool Me Once and The Blame.
Meanwhile, Coben's Myron Bolitar is set to be his first multi-season drama on Netflix, about a retired NBA player who becomes a sports agent navigating the high-stakes and dirty world of the industry. The series will star Colin Woodell, KJ Apa, and Diane Guerrero.
The Trap is available to watch on Netflix now.
