Kristen Stewart's 'Carbonated' Year: Marriage & Directorial Debut

Kristen Stewart celebrated a major milestone in her career hand-in-hand with her new wife, Dylan Meyer, at the Los Angeles premiere of her feature directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, on Thursday evening.

A Year of Personal and Professional Milestones

The 35-year-old Oscar nominee, who married screenwriter Meyer on April 20 at Casita Del Campo restaurant in Los Feliz after six years together, described the past twelve months as transformative. 'I've had the craziest year of my entire life,' Stewart told People magazine. 'I got married. My wife made her a movie. I starred in it. I made my movie. We went to Cannes. It's now actually coming out in theatres, which blows my mind.'

She colourfully summed up her state of mind, saying, 'I was so carbonated over the last year. I need to get flat… I need to go fizz out.' The couple first met in 2013 on the set of the film American Ultra.

Stewart's Bold Red Carpet Style and Future Projects

For the premiere at 2220 Arts + Archives, Stewart made a striking style statement. She wore a black zip-up swimsuit that bared her back, paired with low-slung trousers and boots, styled by Tara Swennen. Her hair, styled by Adir Abergel, featured a jagged mullet covering a shaved undercut, while makeup artist Jillian Dempsey accentuated her hazel eyes.

The event was also a showcase for her film's cast, including Kim Gordon, Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, and Jim Belushi. Belushi paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne with a commemorative t-shirt. Other notable guests included Ashley Benson and Emma Roberts.

Looking Back and Charging Forward

In a separate interview, Stewart revealed a surprising ambition regarding the franchise that made her a global star. She expressed a strong desire to remake the first Twilight film, which launched her career in 2008 opposite Robert Pattinson. 'Imagine if we had like, a huge budget and a bunch of love and support,' she mused to ET. 'I would love to readapt. Yeah, sure, I'll do the remake. I'm doing it! I'm committed.'

Before any vampire revivals, audiences can see Stewart's current labour of love. The Chronology of Water, a 128-minute adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch's 2011 memoir, produced with the involvement of Ridley Scott, hits US theatres this Friday. The film has garnered critical acclaim, holding a 'certified fresh' 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 59 reviews, and is nominated for two awards at the upcoming Astra Film Awards.

Stewart's upcoming slate remains busy. She is set to star in Dylan Meyer's directorial debut The Wrong Girls for Neon, and has confirmed that the limited series The Challenger, in which she will portray astronaut Sally Ride, has been greenlit by Amazon MGM.
