The search for the next James Bond has narrowed to just three actors, with screen tests reportedly set to take place in London this weekend. According to Deadline, Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O'Connor are in the mix for the role, with tests potentially beginning as early as Friday.
Final Three Confirmed
Turner, known for One Night Only, Lowden of Slow Horses, and O'Connor from The Crown are the three stars reportedly competing. Earlier rumors suggested Euphoria's Jacob Elordi and Sinners star Jack O'Connell were also in the running, but The Hollywood Reporter has dismissed these claims.
The screen tests are said to focus on three key components: stunts, camera presence, and dialogue. The chosen actor will replace Daniel Craig, who first played Bond in Casino Royale (2006) and exited the franchise after his fifth film, No Time To Die (2021).
Production Details
Amy Pascal, who will produce the next Bond film, told Deadline earlier this year that an announcement by the end of the year is "a good bet." She added, "We are being really, really methodical. Having worked with (producer) Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it's got to be something really different that is stirring, exciting and different."
The next Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune. Harry Potter producer David Heyman will work alongside Pascal on the movie, which is currently untitled. It will be the 26th installment in the franchise, based on the books of Ian Fleming. Amazon took over the franchise last February.
