Actress Kim Tiddy has opened up about her Hollyoaks exit after her character was killed off after one year. The 48-year-old played Heidi Costello in the Channel 4 soap from July 2010 to October 2011. The Costello family was introduced as the new owners of The Dog in the Pond pub.
Disappointment at early exit
Talking about her exit, Kim shared that she had to move on but was disappointed that it came to an end so quickly. She told Betway.com: "It was a shame as I felt we were really just getting going, and then I was killed, and the family kind of disappeared."
"But again, it draws a line under it. There’s no point feeling sentimental or emotional about it; that’s just the decision that’s been made."
Not her choice to leave
When speaking about how she was written out, the actress said: "It wasn’t my choice to leave, but I didn’t part on bad terms. I felt like the character was just getting started. But I did get to work with Jeff Rawle, who played my father, Silas Blissett."
"He's such a great actor, and he ended up being the one to murder me." Despite her disappointment, Kim was proud of the storylines she had on Hollyoaks.
Proud of important storylines
She said: "I was really proud of the things we worked on. Hollyoaks has always really pushed the envelope with storylines."
"My character's daughter Jasmine was trans and became Jason. That was so important. Before that, I wasn’t so aware of the transgender world, so I got to do a lot of research, and it was so educational for me."
Recognition from The Bill
Kim's other notable roles include her four-year stint on ITV's The Bill, which she said she would love to see back on screen. Although the show ended in 2010, Kim, who played PC Honey Harman, said she still gets recognised by fans.
When asked about being recognised, she said: "Yes, it always shocks me too. It’s been almost 20 years, but people still recognise me when I’m out and about."
Hollyoaks airs Mondays to Wednesdays on E4 at 6:30 PM.
