We meet Minoru Mukaiya, composer of 300 catchy jingles for train station platforms, and ride the elevator to the top of the 630 metre-high, earthquake-proof Tokyo Skytree. Portillo remarks: 'This technology just leaves me breathless.'

At 9pm on BBC One, Charlotte Regan's Romeo and Juliet remix set amid warring crime families in Scotland is earthy, formally inventive, and deeply heartfelt. This double bill sees everyone donning sharp suits and elaborate hats for a fractious day at the races before star-crossed lovers Shannon and Arran peel off at a gallop.
Virgin Island
On Channel 4 at 9pm, a reality show blurs the line between exploitative TV and groundbreaking therapy as it returns for a second season. Young adults undress and undergo therapies involving sexual stimulation on camera, aiming to address intimacy issues. Not for the easily shocked.
Euphoria
On Sky Atlantic at 9pm, weddings bring out plenty of drama. Cassie and Nate's nuptials are no exception, providing a great opportunity to bring the gang back together for a set-piece event. Backstabbing, gossip, and generally appalling behaviour are the order of the day as family and friends find themselves on a collision course.
Rooster
On Sky One at 10pm, good news for fans of Steve Carell's campus comedy: it has been renewed for a second season. But flailing author Greg still has to navigate the rest of the semester as writer-in-residence. His lecturer daughter, Katie, remains in an emotional funk while student Tommy wants to drop out.
