Disney has officially found its new Rapunzel and Flynn Rider for the highly anticipated live-action remake of the 2010 animated hit, Tangled. The studio has cast rising stars Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim in the iconic roles, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
Who Are The New Stars Of Tangled?
The search for the perfect leads was extensive, with Disney conducting a major talent hunt across both the United States and the United Kingdom. The roles were originally voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi in the beloved animated film, which offered a unique twist on the classic Rapunzel fairy tale. The story follows a young woman with magical long hair, kept secluded in a tower by the villainous Mother Gothel, whose life changes forever when she meets the charming thief, Flynn Rider.
Teagan Croft, the Australian actress set to play Rapunzel, is best known for her role as Raven in the DC Universe series Titans, which ran from 2018 to 2023. Her film credits include playing real-life teenage sailor Jessica Watson in the Netflix movie True Spirit (2023). Croft's acting journey began on stage at just nine years old, playing Scout Finch in a production of To Kill A Mockingbird.
From Zombies To Flynn Rider: Milo Manheim's Big Break
Playing the roguish Flynn Rider will be Milo Manheim, who rose to fame as Zed in Disney Channel's popular Zombies film franchise from 2018 onwards. The 24-year-old actor comes from an acting family; his mother is award-winning actress Camryn Manheim, who celebrated the news on Instagram, writing: "There is no one on this planet who could play Flynn Rider better than you."
Manheim is no stranger to musical performance, a key skill for the role. He has starred in an off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors and performed in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. He also appears in the Paramount+ series School Spirits.
What's Next For The Live-Action Remake?
While the lead roles are now confirmed, one major casting remains: the pivotal villain, Mother Gothel. There has been significant fan speculation, with names like Scarlett Johansson and Agatha All Along star Kathryn Hahn previously mentioned. Disney has yet to announce a release date for the live-action Tangled film.
This casting news marks a significant step forward for the project, promising to introduce a new generation to the timeless story while aiming to capture the magic that made the original animated film a global success.
