Callum Turner tipped to replace Daniel Craig as next James Bond
Callum Turner tipped as next James Bond after Craig

Industry insiders are increasingly convinced that Callum Turner is the frontrunner to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond, following a lengthy 007 casting process. Craig held the role for 15 years, longer than any other actor.

According to experts, Turner is now believed to have secured the part after Jacob Elordi, Jack Lowden, and a third unnamed actor were reportedly whittled down during the extensive casting process. The 007 screen tests are understood to have been held over the weekend, with between three and five actors invited to audition. Turner, 36, arrived at Bray Studios in Berkshire for a screen test on Friday, October 30.

Signs Pointing to Turner

The Sun reported that Turner has resigned as a director of Twentytwo Films Ltd, a production company he set up last year with his wife, Dua Lipa. This could suggest he is clearing the decks for a career-defining Bond move.

A source told The Sun: "Callum is making all the right moves to become the next James Bond. The role is all-consuming and commitment to it is a top priority of the producers."

Casting Process and Production Details

Casting for the new 007 is being handled by renowned casting director Nina Gold. According to Amy Pascal, who is producing the new James Bond film at Amazon, the new 007 will be cast by the end of 2026, reports the Express.

Pascal said: "We are being really, really methodical. I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it's got to be something really different that is stirring, exciting and different."

Reports suggest Tom Holland cannot take on the part because of his Marvel deal, while Taron Egerton has ruled himself out of the running. Turner has previously swerved red carpet queries about his connection to the project, as has Elordi, according to NME.

Franchise Reboot

The upcoming film is believed to mark a total franchise reboot after Daniel Craig's final outing in No Time to Die. Denis Villeneuve has signed on to helm the picture, while screenwriter Steven Knight is writing the script and has already completed a first draft.
