Alan Cumming 'Broke' Pedro Pascal on Avengers: Doomsday Set
Alan Cumming injured Pedro Pascal filming Marvel movie

Scottish actor and presenter Alan Cumming has disclosed that he accidentally caused an injury to his fellow star Pedro Pascal during the production of the forthcoming Marvel blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday.

On-Set Incident with a Co-Star

Speaking candidly during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Cumming, 60, recounted the unfortunate event. "What was funny was my first scene with Pedro, he hurt his neck and had to go home," the actor explained. "So I broke Pedro." When questioned by Kimmel if the pair had been engaged in a fight sequence, Cumming clarified: "No, I wasn't fighting, no. I was just sort of… being."

Cumming, who is set to reprise his role as the teleporting mutant Nightcrawler from the X-Men films, was careful not to divulge any major plot details about the highly secretive project. He did, however, share that Pascal sought alternative therapy to recover from the mishap. "He got cupped! Do you know that thing, the cupping?" Cumming asked the host. "He showed me a couple of nights later at the hotel."

X-Men Heroes Make a Triumphant Return

The news of this on-set incident comes as excitement builds for the movie, which promises a significant reunion of iconic X-Men characters. Fans were sent into a frenzy this week with the release of a new teaser trailer, which featured the confirmed return of James Marsden as Cyclops.

Marsden, 52, first portrayed the optic-blast-emitting hero Scott Summers in 2000's X-Men and returned for subsequent sequels. His appearance in Avengers: Doomsday marks another comeback, following a cameo in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. The new trailer showcases a powerful moment where Cyclops removes his visor to unleash a devastating attack.

The film's cast reads like a who's who of the mutant world, including veterans like Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. A poignant scene in the teaser shows Professor X and Magneto reunited, playing a game of chess with levitating pieces.

Fan Reaction and Long-Awaited Justice

On social media platform X, fans enthusiastically welcomed Marsden's return, particularly praising a costume that appears more faithful to the original comic books. One supporter wrote, "I’ve never been a Cyclops fan but I always thought James Marsden was perfectly cast and they did him dirty in the X-Men movies. Glad to see a possible redemption."

Another fan expressed similar sentiment, stating: "James Marsden you deserved so much more for being Scott Summers," highlighting a longstanding belief that the actor's portrayal was previously underutilised.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release in cinemas across the UK on 18 December 2026. The film is poised to be a major cinematic event, merging the worlds of the Avengers and the X-Men on an epic scale.
