Zara McDermott admits Christmas split struggle with Tomlinsons

Zara McDermott has admitted she is finding it difficult to plan her Christmas this year, as she balances time with her family and her close bond with Louis Tomlinson's sisters, Daisy and Lottie.

Speaking to the Mirror at the Pride of Britain awards, the former Love Island star said: "Honestly, I've been trying to work out how I'm going to split my Christmas this year. I want to be with everyone and make it work, but it's also my 30th this year, which is before Christmas. I'm thinking about my 30th before I think about Christmas, because it's a big one."

Birthday plans still up in the air

McDermott, whose relationship with the former One Direction star has been going on for a year and a half, revealed she is unsure what to do for her birthday on 14th December. "I don't know what to do yet!" she said. "It's 14th December, I don't know what to do. Do I do something big? Am I going to regret doing something big? I just kind of want a cute family thing, but I'm not sure."

She attended the awards with both Daisy and Lottie Tomlinson, with the trio dressed in black gowns, except Daisy who wore a white lace dress. Daisy stayed close to McDermott throughout the night, often sharing smiles and holding hands.

Bond with the Tomlinson sisters

When asked about her relationship with Louis' sisters, McDermott said: "It's so lovely to be out together. I love everybody and I'm so grateful to have sisters around me and such an amazing set of sisters."

She described the Pride of Britain awards as "such a special night, it's the best event of the year," adding that the winners always inspire her to "do a bit more".

Documentary work and future plans

McDermott, now a documentary maker, said her work is her way of giving back: "With the documentary work I do, that's the act of kindness that I do to give back to the world, into the community, sharing stories and listening to others."

She has made documentaries on disordered eating, online grooming, and stalkers, with her first on revenge porn, which she was a victim of after leaving Love Island. On future projects, she said: "Anything in the Violence Against Women and Girls space, that's what really fires me up. There's so much change that needs to happen and I feel so passionate about wanting to drive that change. It's a conversation that needs to be had."
