Wayne Rooney mistaken for son Kai in Marrakesh snaps

Wayne Rooney's ongoing transformation has surprised fans once again, with some mistaking him for his teenage son in new holiday photos with his wife, Coleen.

The former England and Manchester United footballer has been seen posing with Coleen in a series of snaps from their trip to Marrakesh, which she shared on Instagram on Tuesday (October 13).

Fans react to Wayne's youthful look

Coleen captioned the post: "Beautiful few days away in Marrakesh," and comments quickly flooded in, with many focused on Wayne's appearance.

One fan wrote: "I thought it was Kai! Wayne looks so much younger. Love your show such lovely down to earth people." Another commented: "You look 10 years younger Wayne."

Other reactions included: "Both looking fantastic! Hope you're having a gorgeous time," and "Wayne Rooney is looking like his son's... transformation is unreal man, hats off to Rooney and his fitness streak."

Weight loss efforts and new reality show

Last month, Wayne said he has been "working really hard to lose weight" and insisted he has not turned to alternative methods to change his physical appearance. He showed off his new look at the premiere of his and Coleen's reality show, The Real Rooneys.

The 10-episode series arrived on Disney+ on September 24. Disney teased: "With unprecedented access, we follow the family through the highs and lows of married life, raising four lively boys, and supporting eldest son Kai as he pursues his own footballing dream."

The couple, who have been married since 2008, share four sons: Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and eight-year-old Cass.

Kai's football journey and Coleen's pride

In episode three of the documentary, Kai is shown shooting an advert with sponsor Puma, and the topic of his career at Manchester United is raised. Coleen says in the episode: "This is a big year for Kai. He's waiting to find out if Manchester United are going to offer him a scholarship."

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News ahead of the series release, Coleen shared her delight at Kai being involved in the show. "It's nice for him to own it, because he's worked hard, and he is his own person," she said.

She added: "That's the thing, going back years ago, you did get the comments of, 'Is he only there because of his dad?', and it goes to show no, he's got a talent, and he's worked hard to get where he is. But not only just at football, at school, he's just done his GCSEs. He got really good results and was taken out of school a lot for football commitments, so he's had to double-up on that."

Coleen also praised Kai's maturity: "He's a strong-willed lad, he always has been. And I was proud when you see the clips of his interviews and how he holds himself because it can be hard and being in the public eye from a young age, and he's managed it well."
