Grace Olivier, 35, who describes herself as the first British 'tradwife', says her marriage functions like a business and dismisses online trolls who label her as oppressed. She and her husband Moses, 40, have been together for nearly 14 years and married 18 months ago, adhering to traditional gender roles where Grace handles domestic duties and Moses provides financially.
Clear roles like a business
Grace, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, explains that their arrangement brings clarity. "Both myself and my husband know exactly where we are in life. We know what to expect from each other. There is clarity because there are roles. Take out the word marriage and think about us as a business," she said. "If you go into your day job, you know what is expected of you... It is always going to work a lot better when everybody knows what they are doing."
Grace manages the household—cooking, cleaning, and caring for their four children—while Moses works in senior management for a large infrastructure company. She has access to money for daily needs and discusses major purchases with her husband.
Choosing the lifestyle
Grace rejects claims that she is downtrodden. "People online say I am oppressed, downtrodden and I am a fool. Absolutely not. It is a choice. It is my choice," she said. The couple naturally fell into their roles when they met in September 2012. Grace had some jobs when younger but now focuses on her role at home. She notes that nothing stops her from working, as long as it doesn't interfere with her household duties.
TikTok and coaching
Grace launched a TikTok account in February 2025, claiming to be the first UK 'tradwife' influencer. Her account @mr.mrs.olivier aims to build a community and "disprove the myths" around traditional marriages. She offers £100 online coaching courses on preparing for a traditional relationship in the 21st century. Grace also co-authored a book with Moses, A Traditional Relationship in The 21st Century by Mr. & Mrs. O, available on Amazon.
Different from US tradwives
Grace distinguishes herself from American tradwives, noting that her family is not religious and she personally leans left politically. "Big factors that play into their lifestyles are religion and politics. I suppose I am very different in the respect that our entire family are not religious," she said. Despite criticism, she remains committed to her lifestyle and community-building efforts.
