Trisha Goddard shares stage four cancer update on GMB

Trisha Goddard has given an update on her stage four breast cancer diagnosis during an appearance on Good Morning Britain. The television presenter, now 68, was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and successfully overcame the illness. However, in July 2022, she learned the cancer had returned and she had stage four breast cancer.

It had metastasised to her hip, and Trisha was told it was treatable but not curable. The revelation came after a fall at her residence, which resulted in a fractured femur and severe pain.

Goddard's Health Update on GMB

On Wednesday, October 21, Trisha appeared on Good Morning Britain, where she discussed her current state. Co-host Richard Madeley remarked: "You look exactly the same. I mean, you're in really good nick aren't you?"

Trisha replied: "I am actually. I'm healthier than a lot of people that don't have cancer. No, I mean that seriously. I mean, I'm probably looked after better than most people who have cancer."

Living with Stage Four Cancer

Trisha added: "It's stage four. This use of 'terminal' is no longer used, it's called 'life-limited' now, because there are people who live 5, 10, 15, 20 years with cancer. And that's just the point. They don't keep records of that because the thinking still is, and it still is with the general public: 'You get stage four, that's it.' It's over."

She also highlighted advances in cancer treatment: "When I went through breast cancer in 2008, the treatment and I had been is unrecognisable to now."

Support at Her Cancer Centre

Trisha, who lives in Connecticut with her fourth husband, Allen, discussed the support available at her cancer centre: "I get free massage, a gym membership with personal trainers who are trained to work with people living with cancer."

She also disclosed she receives weekly sessions with a psychologist and access to her own counsellors. "I get my blood results four minutes after my bloods are taken, when my scans are taken, I have to wait a whole three hours. And it's all on my phone, all my information," she said.

Earlier this year, Trisha revealed she had returned to hospital. Posting on social media in July, she shared an image from hospital and wrote: "Ho-hum.... Another day – another procedure!" She added: "This time… Steroid injections in da batty to banish aches and pains that b***h Cancer left me as a nice 'I Wuz Here' when dem was zapped to hell by radiation treatment!"

She continued: "One of the few massive needles I'm always really glad to see! 'Cos every time a nurse holds my hand and sweetly warns me that there's going to be 'A little prick'– Me tell them, No sweat!"

Good Morning Britain airs Monday to Friday from 6am on ITV1.
