As rumours swirl that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will marry this weekend at Madison Square Garden, legal experts predict their prenuptial agreement will be one of the most extensive in celebrity history. The couple's vast wealth disparity—Swift is worth an estimated $2 billion, while Kelce has around $70 million—means their lawyers have likely been working on a detailed document since their engagement.
New York matrimonial lawyer Atty Bruggemann told The Independent the prenup will be a 'short novel' in length, covering every asset each party owns. Swift's portfolio includes an eight-property real estate empire, her music catalogue, publishing rights, royalties, and touring profits. Kelce's assets include his NFL earnings, endorsements, and the New Heights podcast, which secured a $100 million licensing deal with Amazon's Wondery in 2024.
Bruggemann predicts the agreement will include 'carve-outs for every penny' earned during the marriage, with little shared marital property. A key question is how future earnings from songs Swift writes about their relationship will be treated. 'If she writes songs during the marriage and it's all about him, is she going to say that's entirely hers?' the lawyer asked.
An appreciation clause is also expected, ensuring that any increase in value of Swift's pre-marriage assets—such as her real estate, worth upwards of $80 million—remains solely hers. Swift's properties include a $50 million Tribeca compound, a Rhode Island mansion, and a Nashville penthouse, while Kelce owns homes in Leawood, Kansas, and Kansas City.
