Rooney Sends Henderson Message After England Injury Update

Wayne Rooney has described Jordan Henderson's absence as a 'real loss' for England after the midfielder suffered a freak arm injury following the Three Lions' victory against Mexico at the Azteca. Henderson fell awkwardly from the advertising hoardings during the celebrations and was given oxygen before being stretchered off. He has since remained in Mexico to undergo surgery and is expected to stay with the squad in a non-playing capacity for the remainder of the tournament.

Rooney's Thoughts on Henderson's Influence

Speaking on the BBC, former England captain Rooney emphasised Henderson's importance in the dressing room. 'I was thinking about this before when he got picked for the squad, he's such a powerful voice in the dressing room,' Rooney said. 'I personally would have gone with someone like Adam Wharton to help with his development. But he's such an important voice and Thomas Tuchel believed he can have a real impact with the squad. It will be a loss certainly and I hope he gets well soon because it looks like a nasty injury.'

Tuchel and Bellingham React

England manager Thomas Tuchel provided an update after the match, stating: 'I'm sad because Jordan injured his wrist. It's quite serious. He's in hospital. It doesn't fit with the rest of the evening. I don't know the procedure.' Midfielder Jude Bellingham also commented: 'He is in a bit of bother, but our medical team have everything under control. I'm not best to give too much detail as I do not know much going on, but everyone was there to support him.'

England's Preparations and Disciplinary Concerns

The FA is expected to release a fresh update on Henderson's condition in the coming days as England prepare for their clash with Norway. Tuchel's side already know their potential route to the final should they advance. However, they face disciplinary concerns as Marc Guehi, Nico O'Reilly, and Declan Rice are all walking a suspension tightrope, each facing a one-match ban if they receive a yellow card against Norway.
