Why I Always Go to Tesco for One Ready Meal Despite Shopping at Sainsbury's
Why I Always Go to Tesco for One Ready Meal

Living within a 10-minute walk from both a Sainsbury's and a Co-op, I rarely bother going to other supermarkets. However, there is one item I sometimes trek to Tesco for: their ready-made macaroni cheese. When I'm in the mood for macaroni cheese but don't fancy making it myself, I always opt for Tesco's version.

Quick and Convenient Meal

This tasty dish takes just four minutes in the microwave, so I can sit down and enjoy my meal moments after walking in the door. Like most ready meals, it's not the healthiest option, so it shouldn't be eaten too often. In my opinion, Tesco has the best ready meal mac and cheese among the supermarkets I've tried.

Comparison with Other Supermarkets

I have tried the macaroni cheese from both Sainsbury's and Co-op. The former was too tasteless, and the latter tasted rather odd. The Tesco ready meal, however, is quite tasty. Although it's not quite as good as a homemade mac and cheese, it's certainly less time-consuming.

Price and Value

At £3.75, it's not the cheapest, but it's also not the most expensive ready meal on the market. If you have a Clubcard, it's often included in deals, so you can pick up a few items without spending too much. Sainsbury's basic macaroni cheese ready meal also comes in at £3.75, while Co-op's is a little more expensive at £4. Again, both are often included in deals for their members.

Serving Suggestions

The mac and cheese can be a full meal, or you could have it as a side along with something else, depending on your appetite and level of hunger. I usually just have it on its own. While I wouldn't recommend it for every meal, I do enjoy it once every couple of months and will continue to take the trek to Tesco when the craving comes over me.
