Stars Flock to Wimbledon Royal Box for Arthur Fery's Semi-Final
Stars in Wimbledon Royal Box for Fery Semi-Final

On Friday, a galaxy of celebrities filled Wimbledon's Royal Box to support British tennis sensation Arthur Fery in his bid to reach the men's final. The 23-year-old wildcard, already the first British wildcard to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals in the open era, faced world number two Alexander Zverev on Centre Court.

VIP Guests in the Royal Box

Among the notable attendees was legendary British editor Dame Anna Wintour, making her return to the 2026 Championships. She was seated alongside Oscar-nominated director Baz Luhrmann, known for Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet. Acclaimed fashion designer Tom Ford also joined them, along with British actor George MacKay, who stars in the upcoming Sense and Sensibility film adaptation with Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Benedict Cumberbatch attended with his wife, theatre director Sophie Hunter, marking his second appearance at Wimbledon this year. In front of them sat broadcaster Sandi Toksvig and actor Damian Lewis. Other stars included Martin Freeman, journalist Louis Theroux, and actor Hugh Laurie.

Sports Legends and More

From the sports world, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk attended, back in the UK after the Netherlands' World Cup exit on June 30. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was also present, along with former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash, Prince Michael of Kent, and Jemima Goldsmith.

The Royal Box also featured former cricketer Brian Lara and model Ysabel Bisnath. In the Emirates suite, singer Jessie Ware, actor James Norton, and singer Grace Jones were spotted, while actor Rami Malek attended as a guest of Emirates.

Fery's Wimbledon Journey Ends

Fery opened play on Centre Court against second seed Zverev, having booked his semi-final spot with a stunning straight-sets victory over ninth seed Flavio Cobolli at the Australian Open. However, the Briton's Wimbledon dream ended in a straight-sets defeat to Zverev, who progressed after his own three-set win over Taylor Fritz.

The second men's semi-final featured Novak Djokovic, 39, bidding for a record 25th grand slam, against world number one Jannik Sinner. Sinner, who won his fourth singles grand slam at Wimbledon last year, had not lost a set in the previous four rounds.

Fery's run made him the second wildcard to reach the last four, after Goran Ivanisevic in 2001, who went on to win the trophy. Fery was hoping to become the first British man to reach the final since Andy Murray's second triumph in 2016.
