Veteran ITV News at Ten presenter Sandy Gall left a net estate of £331,303 to his four children, according to reports. The journalist, who lived in Penshurst, Kent, died aged 97 in June this year.
Gall’s will, drawn up nine years before his death, bequeathed his estate to his son and three daughters. His wife Eleanor predeceased him in 2018. The gross value of the estate was £632,749, but after deductions the net sum was £331,303.
Gall’s journalism career spanned more than 50 years. He joined ITN in 1963 and became the face of News at Ten, presenting until 1992. He covered major events including the assassination of John F Kennedy, the Vietnam War, and the Lockerbie disaster.
After retiring, he founded Sandy Gall’s Afghanistan Appeal, a charity supporting disabled Afghans and refugee children. He was appointed CBE in 1987 and CMG in 2011.
His family described his life as “a great life, generously and courageously lived”.
