Sam Frost has shared intimate details about her upcoming wedding while reflecting on a deeply painful period in her life that left her feeling as though she had a 'hole in my heart'. The 37-year-old star, who rose to fame on The Bachelor Australia before becoming the first Bachelorette, is now embracing a quieter life in Melbourne with fiancé Jordie Hansen and their two young sons.
A Joyful but Chaotic Home Life
In a candid interview with Stellar magazine, Sam described her current home life as both chaotic and joyful. 'I have to hide otherwise one of them will come and try to find me,' she said, referring to her sons. For Sam, these small, noisy moments now represent everything she once longed for. 'It's the small moments of pure joy that remind you... this is what life is about,' she explained.
She added: 'I was playing outside with [sons] Ted and Bobby the other day and I was like, "This is joy." It's great to have ambitions, but for anyone who's gone through hard times – grief or mental health struggles – it's small things that make you feel peaceful.'
Proudest Role: Stay-at-Home Mum
After years in the spotlight, including a stint on Home and Away, Sam says her proudest role is now a personal one. 'I'm a stay-at-home mum, and while I do little bits and pieces I'm so privileged to be able to stay with the boys and have that time,' she said. This shift has also meant financial adjustments, with Sam admitting that she and her Australian Survivor star partner are no longer living as comfortably as when she was working full-time. 'We aren't in the financial position we were in when I was working; we've had to make choices and live smaller,' she said.
Wedding Plans: Intimate and Backyard
That mindset extends to their upcoming wedding, which the couple are planning to hold in their backyard next February. 'Having something extravagant seems silly,' Sam said. 'It's not about that; it's about making a commitment to each other. I don't want to spend crazy amounts on this one day.' Instead, the ceremony will be intimate, with close family involved.
New Podcast and Reflections on the Past
Alongside wedding plans, Sam has also launched a new podcast, Cracking On, with fellow Home and Away alum Sarah Roberts. The show explores resilience and personal setbacks, with Sam explaining: 'We ask guests to talk about a time when they've hit rock bottom, whether it be getting fired from a job or a divorce, and they've just had to crack on with life.'
Reflecting on her younger years, Sam admits she was searching for something she couldn't quite define. 'I think back on who I was, and I was so desperate to be loved; so desperate to find it,' she said. 'All my 20s, and even my late teens, I've always wanted to find that love. I feel sad for myself that I felt I needed it so badly.' Now, she says, that longing has finally been fulfilled – largely thanks to her family.
