Ruth Langsford Opens Up About 'Period of Darkness' After Eamonn Holmes Split

Ruth Langsford has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of her marriage breakdown, revealing she often cried in the shower before work in the months following her split from Eamonn Holmes. The Loose Women star, 65, has written a memoir titled Feeling Fabulous in which she details her journey through what she describes as a 'period of darkness'.

In an interview with the Mirror, Langsford said she credits close friends and therapy for helping her turn a corner after the end of her 14-year marriage. 'Some people cope with things better than others, but when you do come through a period of darkness, you feel proud of yourself,' she said. 'I'm still standing with whatever life has thrown at me, and I'm proud of that.'

The TV presenter, who was with Holmes for 26 years, said the split felt 'devastating' and 'impossible to survive' at times. 'The biggest emotion that threatened to swallow me up in the early days was sadness,' she writes in the book. 'When you have been with somebody for a long time and had imagined what your future would look like, there is a sense of deep loss.'

Langsford declined to discuss personal details of the divorce out of respect for their son Jack and her ex-husband. However, she said acceptance has been key to moving forward. 'I am not happy my marriage is over, but I have accepted it. Fighting against the inevitable is exhausting and pointless,' she writes.

The star, who is set to release the memoir later this year, advises others to 'surround yourself with fabulous people' and avoid toxic relationships. 'Make yourself say yes to things,' she added. 'It's very easy to stay at home. When you go out and try something new, it can surprise you.'
