A damning new documentary has exposed Rolf Harris 'hiding in plain sight' as a predator, with chilling remarks to his promoter revealing his true nature.
Disturbing Comments Revealed
Chilling remarks made by Rolf Harris to his stunned promoter upon spotting two young girls walking home from school near his property exposed the television presenter as a predator. The disgraced entertainer is alleged to have made the disturbing comments after noticing the children while being driven to his mansion in Maidenhead, Berkshire, before authorities eventually caught up with the twisted star.
Harris was found guilty of a series of indecent assaults committed between 1968 and 1986 following a trial in 2014, with some of his victims as young as eight.
Documentary Exposes Hidden Abuse
Australian broadcaster ABC TV further scrutinised the fallen television personality in a new documentary, Rolf Harris: Primetime Predator, examining how celebrity status, nostalgia and unchecked power concealed decades of abuse. Harris, who served nearly six years in prison and died aged 93 in 2023, never apologised to those he wronged.
Chris 'Bear' Brosnan, who collaborated with Harris for many years, recalled the moment he first discovered his employer harboured a sexual interest in children. In a preview for the programme, airing tonight, the disgraced star's former colleague recounts how warning signs began to emerge as they returned from a filming assignment one day.
Brosnan's Harrowing Account
'We were heading back from a show in London, and there were two schoolgirls walking along the road in Maidenhead,' he said. 'I'm just driving along and Rolf says, point blank, Jesus Christ, couldn't you just f*** the pair of them? As I'm sitting there, I'm hearing him say it, and I literally said What the are you talking about? Really? What are you talking about, Rolf?'
'These are two little girls, man. When I've looked back on that, I think that that was Rolf testing water with me. To see if I can bring Bear on board with my s**t?'
Property and Aftermath
His dilapidated residence in Maidenhead was eventually sold earlier this year. The Thames-side property failed to meet its reserve price at auction last month despite being listed at £1.95m. Bidding commenced at £1.4m after nobody offered £1.95m.
Harris purchased the property in 1980 alongside his wife Alwen, but it has deteriorated since his death from neck cancer in May 2023. His widow Alwen, who stood by him throughout his court case, died the subsequent year.
Legal Proceedings and Convictions
The disturbing court case, which stretched across two trials, resulted in additional victims emerging to allege Harris had attacked them. In 2017, one of his convictions was quashed on appeal, but 11 convictions stood and destroyed his once illustrious career. Harris was freed from prison on licence following three years behind bars and went back to his multi-million pound home.
Living as a virtual recluse, he died on May 10, 2023 aged 93 after years of deteriorating health, including diabetes. His death certificate listed his cause of death as neck cancer and 'frailty of old age'.
Judge Mr Justice Sweeney said he had taken advantage of his celebrity status and shown 'no remorse'. In 2017, while he was still in jail, he was put on trial a second time, over four allegations of indecent assault on three teenage girls. He denied the charges and was found not guilty after the jury failed to agree verdicts.
A new ABC docuseries examines the shocking downfall of entertainer Rolf Harris, once considered a national treasure and then unmasked as a prolific sexual predator before his death in 2023.
