Lindsey Burrow has said she is not ready to date again following the death of her husband, rugby league legend Rob Burrow. The former England star died in 2024 at the age of 41 from motor neurone disease (MND). Before his death, he encouraged Lindsey to find happiness in romance, but she has said that is not something she is considering at the moment.
Private messages from Rob
Rob left loving messages for Lindsey and their three children using specialist voice technology after he lost the ability to speak. Lindsey was initially reluctant to listen to the recordings, fearing they would be too upsetting, but when she did, she heard words of encouragement urging her to find happiness again.
Speaking to the Telegraph earlier this year, Lindsey confirmed that pursuing romance was not on her mind. "I don't think about that," she said. "People do say to me, 'I hope you move on,' but it's not about that. My priority is the children, first and foremost. I don't know what the future holds but [finding love again] is not on my agenda."
Focus on the children
Lindsey shares children Macy, 14, Maya, 10, and Jackson, seven, with Rob. She said her attention remains on her family as they adjust to life without him. "Not a day goes by when I don't think about him and talk about him," she added. "Rob was so positive in his lifetime. He wanted us to be happy. He showed us how to live life in the moment – and now I cope by not thinking about the future."
In a separate interview with the Mirror, Lindsey spoke about the place Rob will always hold in her life. "As long as the children are happy, I'm happy," she said. "Rob was the love of my life. No one will ever take his place. It's heartbreaking that he isn't here, but I'm so grateful to have had him as a husband and father. He taught us that in the darkest of times, there's a strength within us that we don't realise we have."
