Rob Beckett has described a near-physical confrontation with a drunk and "aggressive" man who demanded a photograph while he was in a toilet. The Celebrity Traitors star had agreed to the photo but asked the man to wait until he had finished. The man, however, would not wait and instead filmed Beckett in the cubicle.
Beckett recounted the incident to Josh Widdicombe on the Parenting Hell podcast. He described the man as being around 45 to 50 years old, bigger and a couple of inches taller than him, and "probably muscly but not massively muscly."
Toilet Encounter Turns Tense
Beckett said the man approached him with a "big finger point" as he walked to the toilet door. He compared the interaction to a "year nine interaction with the school bully from the year above." The comedian said he tensed his stomach, causing the man's finger to crumple, and the man responded with "Oi, I know you" and "You owe me a fiver."
Beckett explained he was trying to de-escalate the situation by being polite, but the man kept trying to "mug him off." When the man asked for a photo, Beckett replied, "One minute, mate. I'm just going to the toilet. I'll do it for you in a second."
Filmed in the Cubicle
The man demanded "We'll do one now," but Beckett insisted on using the loo first and closed the cubicle door. He recalled: "My d***'s out now, trying to have a wee in the cubicle. And he's like, 'Come on, mate, why are you being a pr***?' I'm trying to p*ss, I'm trying to go to the toilet. Give me a second and I will."
The man then yelled "You're not gonna get anything out of that," and Beckett realised he was being filmed from behind while the cubicle door was held ajar. Beckett said he felt "cornered like a dog" and was "so angry" at the behaviour.
Escape and Aftermath
Beckett said he "wanted to have a fight" but knew it would be a "terrible decision." After leaving the toilet, the man pushed him and called him a "pr***." Beckett grabbed his arm and told him to get off, calling the behaviour "totally unacceptable."
He rushed out the door to get away and did not see the man again. Beckett confessed to Widdicombe that he would have punched the man if he had been hit first.
